Temporary Spectrum Use Authorization (UTE)
Legal operation of not-yet-homologated equipment at events, tests and demonstrations.
What it is
Events, trade shows, field tests and demonstrations with radio frequency equipment not yet homologated require ANATEL authorization to operate during the period.
Who it is for
Event organizers, manufacturers in the testing phase, and companies running demonstrations or temporary operations with non-homologated equipment.
What we do
- We survey equipment, frequency bands, locations and period of use
- We prepare and file the request in ANATEL’s system
- We follow the review and respond to requirements until authorization
How the process works
Click each step to see who is involved and what happens.
Survey
We confirm that the equipment is not yet homologated and that the intended operating frequency bands allow temporary authorization.
Classification
We check the equipment’s technical data: technology, frequency bands, transmission power, location, period of use and purpose.
Request
We file the request in ANATEL’s system, ideally 2 to 6 weeks before use begins.
Review
ANATEL carries out the technical review and may issue requirements. We follow up and respond.
Authorization
With the UTE issued, the equipment can operate at the authorized location and period.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need a UTE to use equipment at a trade show or event?
If the equipment uses radio frequency and is not yet homologated by ANATEL, yes. This is the typical case for demonstrations of products that have not yet reached the Brazilian market.
How far in advance should I request the UTE?
Ideally 2 to 6 weeks before use begins, to allow time to respond to any ANATEL requirements.
How long is the authorization valid?
For the period requested and authorized, up to 90 days. Permanent use requires a different type of license.
