Homologation of telecommunications products

From test definition to the issuance of the homologation certificate.

What it is

Every telecommunications product sold in Brazil must be certified by a designated certification body and homologated by ANATEL. Without homologation, the product cannot be sold, imported for sale or advertised.

Who it is for

Manufacturers, importers and brands of equipment with radio, connectivity or an interface to the telecommunications network.

What we do

  • We classify the product and define the applicable requirements and tests
  • We prepare and review the technical documentation
  • We coordinate tests with laboratories and the process with the certification body
  • We follow the homologation through to the issuance of the certificate and handle maintenance

Frequently asked questions

Which products require ANATEL homologation?

Products with radio (Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, cellular, two-way radios), equipment that connects to the telecommunications network and some accessories, such as mobile phone chargers and batteries. When in doubt, classification is the first step of the diagnosis.

How long does a homologation take?

It depends on the type of product and the tests required. On average, 6 to 12 weeks from the submission of complete documentation. Preparing the documentation correctly is what reduces this time the most.

Can I sell the product while the homologation is in progress?

No. Sales and advertising are only allowed after the homologation certificate is issued.

Can a foreign company obtain homologation in Brazil?

Yes, through a legal representative in Brazil. Moderacon acts in this role.
