Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between certification and registration?

Certification assesses whether the product meets the requirements, through an accredited product certification body. Registration is INMETRO’s authorization for the assessed product to be sold. In some cases, registration is linked to the Supplier’s Declaration of Conformity, with the procedure handled directly with INMETRO, without the need for a certification body.

Does photovoltaic equipment require registration?

Yes. Equipment covered by Ordinance 140/2022 must be registered before it can be sold.

Does the registration need to be renewed?

Yes. The validity period and renewal rules depend on the type of product and the applicable ordinance. Moderacon tracks these deadlines for the client.
